Application
  undergraduate / Semester Abroad Students

Foreign students applying for semester study abroad (SSA) programmes are required to make applications, in the first instance, to the University of Cape Town through the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO). Please consult the UCT website for further information.

In addition, an application for admission to the Michaelis School of Fine Art is required. A portfolio of work must reach the Michaelis School in due time preferably by 30 September to be accepted into the program and to enable placement in the appropriate year of study. Courses vary significantly between institutions and technical proficiency or assessment difficulties may be encountered if a student is not placed in the appropriate year.

Projects produced by SSA students will be according to the briefs given to and expectations of full-time students in the year and sections that the student is registered in.

Semester Abroad students are expected to attend practical sessions and critiques with the rest of group, and work should be completed in the prescribed time.

Studios are accessible at any time but workshops, lecturers and technical assistance are only available at specific times.

Assessment of work and marks awarded are according to the criteria used for full-time students at the school. Conversion into equivalent international grades and credits is made by IAPO.
